Advocacy Action

We need you to ask your Representative to sign onto two Dear Colleague letters from Representative Bill Foster (D-IL) and Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) urging Congress to repeal Section 510 from the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) Labor-HHS appropriations bill, and to direct $7 million of funds appropriated to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) be used for patient matching standards.

For three years, the House has repealed Section 510 from the Labor-HHS appropriations bill, and last year the Senate draft Labor-HHS bill also removed Section 510 from their bills, though final negotiations saw the ban reinserted into the final FY22 budget. Section 510 has been a barrier to moving forward a national strategy on patient identification, and this is the year we must ensure its repeal.

AHIMA needs your help to reach out to your Representative THIS WEEK and urge them to sign onto the Foster-Kelly letters supporting the repeal of Section 510 and the prioritization of ONC resources for patient matching.
